New U Story
I’ve been in healthcare since I was 18 years old, and I decided to become a registered nurse when my sister had preeclampsia when she was pregnant, and she coded on the OR table and they did an emergency C-section to deliver my nephew. And from there I really knew that my heart was going to be drawn towards healthcare, so I became a labor and delivery nurse first after watching my sister kind of go through that. And then I pursued my graduate and my doctoral program and became board certified and just practiced women’s health. And really that kind of stemmed from a few different personal experiences that I had had. I lost a second baby, and I was diagnosed with gestational trophoblastic disease, so I had to undergo two months of chemotherapy and was never able to have any more children after losing my second child.
So that was huge. And I was in my mid twenties when that happened in my life. And then at the age of 32, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent a complete hysterectomy and went into menopause and gained 40 pounds and had to be placed into hormone replacement therapy. So I definitely feel an emotional connection with so many of the patients that I’m taking care of because I’ve walked that life in a lot of instances. I’ve had that personal experience, and I feel like for women, it’s so vulnerable to express what you’ve been through and open up to a provider that’s trying to be there to help you because I genuinely want all of my patients to know that I’m invested in them and I want them to feel like I’m a friend, not just like, here’s your diagnosis and here’s your treatment. I’m genuinely invested into what is going on in your life. I want to know who’s getting married, has there been a death? All these things that are going on in your life because I really want to be part of that journey. And so I think women have an easier time relating to me because I have that emotional connection with them that I want to be there during their women’s health journey from whatever that might be. So that’s why I decided to open up New U Women’s Clinic and Aesthetics, and that was in 2020, and it’s just kind of exploded from there. There’s 3000 hormone patients I take care of, and I think it’s because I connect with women that are struggling with hormones and struggling with weight just because that was me.

The New U Wellness Clinic and Aesthetics is a place where women can go and wholeheartedly walk into the clinic and remove the armor that’s guarding their hearts and thoughts. This is a safe place where they can be heard, listened to, and respected. Women’s empowerment plays a role in our business because it’s all about caring for our community, truly caring for women, and making those connections. When any woman comes into the clinic, we try to make her feel empowered to lead her own decisions regarding her health care. New U Women’s Clinic and Aesthetics is not just a place for women; we also serve men. I want our patients to feel comfortable, like they’re coming into the clinic and getting an amazing experience. They lose track of time when they’re here and feel like they’re part of the family. They leave the clinic feeling renewed and like a celebrity, which boosts not only their inner confidence but also leaves them looking beautiful. You have to be very brave and make bold decisions every day. I knew that in order to leave a legacy, I had to lean on my scientific knowledge and faith. I worked hard to be a role model for my daughter. She and my husband are my biggest cheerleaders and supporters. Being an entrepreneur at heart is something I think I was born with. My driving passion is caring for women the way I would want my own family cared for, and I know in the medical community it’s very hard to find that type of care. My grandfather was my whole world, and he helped raise me. The work I do at the end of the day is in large part for him. I am putting a scholarship fund in his name called the Eddie J. Adams Scholarship Fund for young women from low-income backgrounds who are trying to get into school. If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know if I would have had the cheerleader to get me through to this level. Women need to have a voice, a seat at the table, and an invitation; if they don’t have that, they should make their own table. They say that girls with big dreams turn into women with vision, and that is what we need to give women—a vision to know that their actions matter and to follow their dreams. I felt defeated when I started my practice and kept getting no’s, but you have to take that no and know that you’re going to make something great out of it, instead of worrying about whether you should take a leap of faith. If there’s something tugging at your heart, go out and accomplish it. People may tell you to do it a certain way, but if it doesn’t feel right for you, then don’t do it. I focus on working on my spiritual energy, helping the community, assisting those less fortunate, speaking to young people, and getting information out there. It’s very humbling to look at past recipients of this award and to be honored in that category. I want to thank the Tri-City Chamber and the ladies who nominated me. I am Dr. Rachel Fidino, CEO of New U Women’s Clinic and Aesthetics.

Caring for women is what I was born to do. All of my experiences over the last nine years of practicing medicine have prepared me to open my own clinic and provide a place where women can go where they are heard and listened to. Opening a clinic one month before COVID was a huge challenge, but we overcame that barrier by working together. Behind me every day is a group of amazing advisors, mentors, and supporters. This group of people is what makes New U Women’s Clinic and Aesthetics a success. You have to be brave and make bold decisions every day.
