Botox Treatments

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only FDA-approved solution for temporarily enhancing the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults. These facial lines are often a result of repetitive muscle contractions from activities like frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows, which gradually lead to skin furrows and folds. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface, providing temporary relief by reducing the underlying muscle activity responsible for these lines. This results in a visibly smoother and more youthful appearance.

At New U Women’s Clinic in Kennewick & Yakima, WA, we offer a range of cosmetic enhancement services using Botox, including the Lip Flip and the Nefertiti Lift. These procedures provide options for individuals looking to enhance their appearance and boost their confidence.

Xeomin

Frown lines develop when facial expressions trigger muscle contractions beneath the skin. As your skin ages, the repetition of these expressions leads to enduring frown lines.

Neurotoxins, such as Xeomin®, offer a solution as prescription medications. They work by inhibiting the release of the chemicals responsible for these muscle contractions, effectively softening frown lines. Xeomin® stands out due to its distinctive precision manufacturing process. This process isolates the therapeutic component of the molecule while eliminating the accessory proteins that do not actively contribute to the treatment. This focus on purity and precision makes Xeomin® an effective solution for addressing frown lines and achieving a smoother, more youthful appearance.

How do neurotoxin treatments like Botox work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles?

Neurotoxin treatments work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscles responsible for repetitive facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows. By relaxing these muscles, neurotoxins prevent the deepening of dynamic wrinkles that form over time due to constant movement. This allows the skin to smooth out and reduces the visible signs of aging. Over repeated treatments, muscle activity diminishes further, which can slow the formation of new wrinkles. This process preserves natural expression while delivering a refreshed, youthful appearance.

Are neurotoxin injections safe for women with hormonal imbalances or thyroid conditions?

Yes, neurotoxin treatments are generally safe for women experiencing hormonal or thyroid imbalances. However, it is essential to disclose your full medical history to Dr. Fidino, including any thyroid disorders, hormonal therapies, or autoimmune conditions. Hormonal fluctuations can affect skin texture, healing, and treatment response, so your provider will customize your treatment plan accordingly. Careful dosing and monitoring ensure safe, effective results tailored to your individual health profile, minimizing any risk of adverse reactions.

Can neurotoxins treat other medical conditions besides their cosmetic uses?

Absolutely. Neurotoxins have a range of therapeutic applications beyond wrinkle reduction. They are FDA-approved to treat chronic migraines by blocking pain signals, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), muscle spasms, and certain neurological disorders. At New U Women’s Clinic & Aesthetics, Dr. Fidino evaluates each patient holistically and may recommend neurotoxin therapy to address both aesthetic concerns and functional medical issues, offering a comprehensive approach to wellness and quality of life.

How long do results from neurotoxin treatments usually last, and how often should I get treatments?

The effects of neurotoxin injections typically become noticeable within 3-7 days after treatment and generally last around 3-4 months. The duration varies depending on individual metabolism, muscle activity, and lifestyle factors such as stress or sun exposure. With consistent treatments, some patients find that muscle activity reduces over time, potentially prolonging the results. Dr. Fidino customizes treatment intervals based on your goals and response, recommending maintenance sessions to keep wrinkles softened and facial expressions natural.

Will neurotoxin treatments make my face look frozen or expressionless?

When administered by an experienced provider like Dr. Fidino, neurotoxin injections aim to relax specific muscles without affecting overall facial movement. The goal is a subtle, natural-looking refresh rather than a frozen or mask-like appearance. Precise injection techniques and careful dosing allow patients to maintain their ability to express emotions fully while minimizing wrinkles. Open communication during treatment planning helps tailor results to your aesthetic preferences and lifestyle.

What are the common side effects or risks associated with neurotoxin injections?

Neurotoxin treatments are generally very safe when performed by qualified professionals. Common side effects include minor redness, bruising, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site, usually resolving within a few days. Rarely, patients may experience temporary headaches, mild flu-like symptoms, or slight drooping of nearby muscles, which typically improve without intervention. Dr. Fidino prioritizes patient safety by conducting thorough medical histories, following strict sterile techniques, and providing post-treatment care instructions to minimize risks and enhance recovery.

Can neurotoxin injections be combined with other cosmetic treatments for better results?

Yes, combining neurotoxin therapy with other aesthetic procedures such as dermal fillers, laser resurfacing, or chemical peels is common and can produce more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. While neurotoxins soften dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement, fillers restore lost volume and smooth static wrinkles caused by skin laxity. Lasers and peels improve skin texture and tone. At New U Women’s Clinic & Aesthetics, treatment plans are personalized to address your unique concerns, maximizing natural-looking results with minimal downtime.

The areas that you can be treat with Botox. Well, you can do the upper face, which consists of the glabella complex, right here. This is essentially the 11s. You can also treat your frontalis muscle, which is your forehead moving it up and down. We can treat the crow’s feet right here, which are the lines that we get from smiling. The nasalis, which we call our bunny lines, and that’s just the little upward motion. We can treat the jawline right here, which involves the platysmal bands, a whole sheath of muscles that comes up from our neck up to the top. We can get this little part that kind of helps snatch up that area. Our DAOs, which turn our mouth upside down, and that’s what causes the marionette lines. Our little chin, we can treat as well. There’s a little area, which we call like an orange pill. When we do a little motion, it kind of will have some dimpling in there, and so that will treat that. Also can treat the masseter. A lot of people come in that get headaches frequently from the TMJ and the muscles. When we treat that area, that helps a lot for their for chewing. It also will give a little bit more of a slimmer face look. So that’s a wonderful area as well. And then also we can do what we call a lip flip, or just also for people that are getting what they call the smoker lines, that’ll help with all these lines around the mouth. And it just gives a little bit, where it shows the upper lip a little bit. We also can do an area up here, which is a muscle that pulls our upper lip up when we smile, and some people get that really big gummy look, and that’s an area that we can treat as well. We carry three different types of neurotoxins. They’re just three different brands. We have Botox, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. And the difference is they all contain the same core ingredient, which is botulinum toxin type A. They just have different proteins attached to them, other than Xeomin, which is does not have any proteins attached to it. The great thing about having the option is that, over time, some people have become immune to certain ones, and so that is nice to have a choice between the three of them. But they all are going to block the muscle that is creating the expression lines, that is creating the wrinkles. The treated areas for neurotoxin will take effect usually 3 to 5 days. You may feel a little bit of changes, but within 2 weeks will be completely settled in. Usually, they will last 3 to 4 months. So we do recommend that you come in every 3 months. Some people can stretch it to 4 months. Before your neurotoxin treatment, you want to avoid any blood thinners, because that can cause more bruising. So, you want to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, anything such as Advil, Aleve, Naproxen. Also, supplements such as fish oil, ginseng, turmeric, and ginkgo can also be blood thinners as well. After care, you just want to keep your face clean. You want to stay out of direct sun and heat. You do not want to work out for 24 hours afterward. And you do not want to directly go and lay down right after your appointment.
